Gingerbread for Galaxy S in March

Samsung Mobile Romania posted on their Facebook page that the I9000 Galaxy S will be getting Gingerbread (after a quick v2.2.1 update), while the I5500 Galaxy 5 and I5800 Galaxy 3 will be served Froyo soon. This move will sure earn Samsung some brownie points – the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S may be getting replaced soon, but it’s a best seller in the pockets of millions. For the record it’s getting a second major OS update (it started on v2.1 Eclair). The Samsung Galaxy S will first get a minor update to v2.2.1 by 20 March followed by the v2.3 Gingerbread update by the end of the month. The update should come not long after the Gingerbread update for Google’s own Nexus One.
