The iPhone, iPad and iPod touch are amazing devices that do what they were made to do rather well. However, thanks to Apple’s App Store a whole range of additional uses have been made for the devices that even Steve Jobs never could have thought of.
One such application is the Square Mobile Payment System. This application comes bundled with a small magnetic strip reader that you plug into your device’s headset jack for reading credit cards. Couple this with the Square application and you’re able to accept payments on the go wherever a cell phone signal is present. If you’re a salesman who frequently travels, the benefits of such a system are evident.
However, Square seems to have ran into some problems that involved “credit processing and risk issues”. Luckily, the company has seemingly remedied the problem as a Square employee has announced via the support forums that they are once again sending out the card readers to those who apply.
