Historically diamond was not a luxury item accordingly diamonds are mined for industrial proposes like cutting of metals and cutting glasses. Undeniably diamonds are so beautiful to look at, so people treasure this precious minerals, coupled with mass media campaign, diamond became the most sought after stone. The value of diamonds depends on its quality, hardness and color or luster. Many sells loose diamonds nowadays and they are very expensive. Anyway most of the diamonds are produced in Russia accordingly it produces one fifth of the world’s diamonds. But high grades diamonds comes from South Africa and Namibia.
