Batanes, Philippine Islands

Sitting on the sloping knolls of the Naidi Hills I see an evergreen place. Gazing round at the rolling green mountains and brown dots that are cows I’m perfectly located in Batanes, Philippine Islands. Taking in the breeze inside me and looking at the vast view over the South China Sea that stretches clear across the horizon forever. Waiting for the Northern sun to drop further, waiting for a perfect sunset, in the sea. The afternoon light softens on the hedgerows where cows graze in peace; bushes wrapping a grid pattern upon the slopes, like hairnets fallen over the hills. We are at the top of the archipelago, in a raised pasture land 180 km north of the Philippine mainland. The Philippine Islands own frontier paradise. This island is comparable to that of England, Scotland and New Zealand. Again, Welcome to Batanes, Philippine Islands.
